About our event
Supporting those in need
This event is a major fundraiser for Mt Barker Lions and Rotary Clubs. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and our volunteers, 100% of your entry fees go directly to Operation Flinders and other local charities. Read about our charities.
Date & provisional times
Sunday 21 March 2021
As part of our 2020 event COVID plan, we started all competitors in waves. The arrangements for 2021 are still to be confirmed but are likely to continue.
All competitors must comply with our directions on COVID safety strategies.
Expect to start your event between 8.00am and 8.30am. More information will be provided in the lead up to the race.
The start line is behind the Mt Barker Home Maker Centre, 6 Dutton Road, Mt Barker (Mt Barker parkrun start/finish). 10km runners finish at the top of Mt Barker Summit.
IMPORTANT: The Laratinga Cafe by the start line will be open from 7.00am for that last minute caffeine hit and for a post run breakfast.
Course notes & GPX file
You'll run through the wetland and up and down some hills. Beware of the lurking photographer at the top of Whinery Hill (Ngeringa Vineyards). The photos will be uploaded to our facebook page so make sure you are smiling!
Wave to the bulls as you go past. If you are lucky you might get to see some kangaroos and even the odd echidna.
Enjoy the summit to the top of the mountain - you paid for this experience!
Seriously, you can read the course notes and view the maps and GPX file here.
We've made our event cup free. This is awesome! If you are not convinced, it's COVID-safe, good for the environment and our volunteers don't have to pick up your rubbish. You must bring your own drinking vessel. We will help you refill it at the on-course water stations.
Other really cool stuff
Our awesome team of volunteers will try and make your day really special.
You can also expect:
on-course water stations
trophies for male and female placers and teams event
an amazing event T-shirt available for purchase
brass band at the start line
easy parking at the Homemaker Centre
a bell at the top of the Summit!
free shuttle-bus service from the Summit back to the start line
We have a few rules to keep you safe. These include COVID measures and road safety requirements. You will receive them via email closer to the event.
The weather is potentially warm in March. We reserve the right to start the event earlier or postpone it if we are concerned about high temperatures. The event will not be run if a catastrophic fire day is predicted.
